Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Dayma is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your worship data is personal and should stay that way.
Local data and optional cloud backup
Your plan, goals and recorded progress are saved on this browser or device for offline use. Signing in adds a private cloud backup so you can restore your plan on another device. Prayer-location and calculation settings are stored separately on this device, not in that account backup.
An optional account
You can begin a new journey with prayer only and without an account. Signing in is optional and enables free cloud plan backup and Circles.
Analytics are optional
Usage analytics and crash diagnostics stay off unless you opt in to each category. Worship details, custom text, intentions, reflections, prayer names, exact dates and times, and location are never included.
Service providers
We never sell your data. Dayma uses trusted providers only where needed: our sign-in service, Creem for optional support payments, and MET Norway for weather data. Weather requests pass through Dayma using a rounded area, not your exact saved coordinates.
Exact location stays local
Dayma requires a location for accurate prayer times. Foreground location is requested only after you tap the location button. Exact coordinates and your chosen timezone are stored on this device and are never included in analytics. Dayma never requests background location. To reflect current weather automatically, the app rounds the location to a coarse area and sends it through Dayma's caching proxy to MET Norway.
Prayer calculation provenance
Prayer times are calculated offline from your saved coordinates, timezone, calculation authority, madhab, high-latitude rule, and optional mosque offsets. We test documented regional profiles against published fixtures and always show the active source so you can compare it with a trusted local timetable.
Journal entries are private
Saved daily Journal entries, intentions, practice purposes and custom practice names are part of your plan and its private account backup if you sign in. Gift reading notes and unsaved Journal drafts are separate local data, scoped to the guest or signed-in account on this browser or device; they do not enter cloud sync. Private text is never sent as analytics. Circle members see it only if you deliberately put it in a shared title or post.
What Circles share
Joining a circle and joining each shared task are separate, explicit choices. Current members see your display name and avatar, the shared title you confirm, check-in dates, each member's progress and the combined check-in count. A title may name a prayer or practice and reveal sensitive information; review it before sharing. Each person links their own private practice or checks in manually. Dayma stores the linked practice's ID, kind and journey start date on the server and returns that link only to the person who linked it, not other members. Linked check-ins cover dates from joining onward, not earlier history. Private amounts, niyyah reminders, notes and unrelated practice names are not shared. Pausing a private practice stops linked updates but retains shared records; Stop sharing retracts your task check-ins, and leaving the circle removes your participations and check-ins. Archiving retains shared history. Older clients can still send general return dates and return-day counts, which can remain visible in older Circle views and are stored separately from shared-task check-ins. Membership, invitations, encouragements, companion relationships and posts also remain stored. Anonymous posts hide your identity from peers, not from Dayma, and remain linked to your account for deletion and abuse controls. None of these records measures faith or sincerity.
Optional weekly activity sharing
The Circle-wide week is a separate choice for each member in each circle. If you enable it, members see dates from today on which you recorded at least one action in Dayma, including partial amounts and shared-practice check-ins in any circle. Opening the app or writing a Journal entry alone does not count. No action names, amounts, notes or dates before this choice are included. These dates and your consent are stored on the server. Stopping this sharing removes its dates without removing your separate shared-practice check-ins. Leaving a circle or deleting your account removes your activity sharing there. An empty mark never proves inactivity or missed worship.
Shared plan templates
A template is public to anyone with its unlisted link. It contains the title, optional note and display name, and the selected practice or goal titles and settings shown in the creator preview. It never includes prayer or practice history, completion data, reflections, niyyah reminders, return dates, Circle membership, or account details. Recipients receive independent local copies. Creators see only a broad adoption band, never identities or activity. Account-free templates are managed by a token stored in the creator's browser; losing it means the link can no longer be removed through Dayma.
Consent and measurement
On the public website, consented acquisition measurement uses Google Analytics. Inside the web app, consented product measurement uses PostHog with autocapture, session replay, and user profiles disabled. Optional crash diagnostics use Sentry with replay and tracing disabled; page and request URLs, request data, user data, and breadcrumbs are removed. Technical source filenames may remain in error stack traces. Native releases do not embed these providers. You can use Dayma without enabling any telemetry.
Progressive Web App
Cached screens and local records can be used offline after they have loaded in this browser. No sign-in is required for local use. Cloud sync and Circle updates require a connection.
Data Export & Deletion
Settings offers a standard plan export and a separate optional Gift-note export/restore. Both use unencrypted JSON files that anyone with a copy can read; you choose where to save or share them. The plan file includes recorded progress and saved daily Journal entries, but excludes Gift notes, unsaved Journal drafts, Circle data and prayer-location settings. The Gift-note file contains reading references and note text; restoring it writes only to the current guest/account's local notes, not the cloud plan. Reset clears the local plan and notes, not your cloud account. Signed-in users on web and native can delete their sign-in identity, synced plan, Circle membership, personal check-ins and posts, and push tokens from Account & sync. Cancel recurring support first if prompted. Shared task titles and other members' records may remain; files you saved elsewhere are not deleted.
Payments & Supporter plan
Every core Dayma feature, account sync and Circles remain free. Monthly, yearly and one-time Supporter payments are optional support, not a purchase of extra core access. We store minimal account information for identity, recovery and synchronization. Support payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Creem (the Merchant of Record); your card details are handled entirely by Creem and are never stored by us.
